As the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” and that is absolutely true when it comes to oral health. The Foundation strives to push prevention to the forefront and is developing programs and partnerships to help give Virginians the tools they need to stay healthy.
The Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation Smart Smiles® program is a free oral health curriculum for grades K-5. The program has been completely reimagined into a customizable digital resource that you can use to engage students inside your classroom or virtually as needed.

Learn moreThe Fallon Park neighborhood in the southeast area of Roanoke, Virginia has some of the poorest health conditions in the region. Almost 75% of students in the neighborhood are living in low income conditions or are below poverty level. Committed founding partners and community leaders – Delta Dental of Virginia, Carilion Clinic, Freedom First, Roanoke City Public Schools and The Roanoke Women’s Foundation – are working to improve health conditions in this community by creating an integrated system of care at Fallon Park Elementary School. The Fallon Park Community Health Center provides access to high-quality health care and coordinated services to address the root causes of poor health.
