Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation Grant Guidelines
The Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) organizations toward the advancement of oral health in Virginia. The fall grant cycle application is now open!
Funding Priorities
The goals of this funding cycle are to:
- Achieve measurable impacts on the health and well-being of Virginians.
- Strengthen the Commonwealth’s health care safety net, especially in underserved communities.
- Endure beyond the life of an individual grant period or program, continuing to affect lives exponentially.
Funding through this cycle is available for new oral health initiatives or the expansion of oral health initiatives to new vulnerable populations. Initiatives should include one or more of the criteria below.

Creates equitable models of care
We believe everyone deserves a healthy smile, regardless of their age, race, gender, socioeconomic status or zip code. These initiatives will bring changes to address social determinants of health, reduce disparities for specific populations, improve accessibility to dental services, and address health equity at the system level.

Innovation in Clinical Practice
These initiatives may include implementing practices such as teledentistry, minimally invasive dental care and workforce changes, or determining other methods of transforming the way dental care is delivered.

Integration of medical and dental care
Oral health is health, and we must continue to shed light on the ways they are intertwined to achieve better outcomes. These initiatives may include: upgrading Electronic Dental Records, updating workflow/process to promote care coordination, developing referral program for social support, and increasing integration activities to move from one level of the integration continuum to the other.
